How to Fix High Ping, Lag & Packet Loss in REMATCH

REMATCH is a fast-paced arcade sports game that demands quick reactions, technical skill, and team coordination. But nothing ruins a clutch moment faster than lag, high ping, or packet loss. In this guide, we’ll show you how to fix these connection issues in REMATCH so you can enjoy smooth, stable gameplay every match.

REMATCH Network Settings

Your first step should be to enable the in-game network performance stats. This setting is located in the Gameplay Settings menu, and once activated, it will display essential connection information such as your current ping, any packet loss you’re experiencing, and the specific server you’re connected to.

With this real-time data on screen, it becomes much easier to identify the exact problem affecting your connection.

Another setting to review is the Preferred Server Location. By default, this is set to Auto, but if you’re finding yourself placed on high ping servers too often, it’s worth manually selecting your region.

Players in large regions like Europe or the US might have multiple local servers, and some of those may offer noticeably better connection quality than others. If you're looking to target the best possible server every time, there’s an even more precise method we'll explore later in this blog.

REMATCH Server Status

REMATCH has strong global server coverage, but even the best infrastructure can run into problems. During periods of high traffic, such as after a new update or during special events, the servers can become overloaded. This can lead to login queues, increased ping, or general instability.

To check for current issues visit the official REMATCH X (Twitter) account for server updates and maintenance announcements.

If you notice a sudden spike in your ping or packet loss, it’s always worth checking for any announcements about ongoing server problems. While you can’t fix these issues yourself, knowing the cause can at least give you peace of mind that it’s not a problem on your end.

Wired vs Wi-Fi Connection

If you’re playing REMATCH on Wi-Fi and experiencing connection issues, switching to a wired Ethernet connection could be one of the quickest and most effective improvements you can make. While Wi-Fi is convenient, it’s prone to signal interference, inconsistent speeds, and higher latency.

An Ethernet connection offers a direct, stable link between your gaming device and your router. Even if your internet speed is decent over Wi-Fi, the consistency and low latency provided by a wired connection will lead to smoother, more responsive gameplay.

Fixing Lag in REMATCH with the Netduma R3 Gaming Router

If you’ve checked your in-game settings, confirmed the server status, and switched to Ethernet but you’re still dealing with lag or high ping, it might be time to take full control of your connection using the Netduma R3 Gaming Router.

The R3 is purpose-built for online gaming and comes equipped with powerful features designed to eliminate high ping, reduce jitter, and stop packet loss. In the next few sections, we’ll show you how these features can directly improve your gameplay in REMATCH.

Fix High Ping in REMATCH With the Geo-Filter

One of the biggest factors affecting your ping is the physical distance between you and the server you’re connected to. The farther away the server, the longer it takes for your data to travel, which increases your latency.

While REMATCH does allow you to set a general matchmaking region, that region may still contain servers that are further away than you’d like. The Geo-Filter on the Netduma R3 solves this problem by allowing you to precisely control which servers you can connect to.

By setting your location and defining a radius around it, you can block distant, high-ping servers and ensure that REMATCH always connects you to the optimal server closest to you.

We have a full guide going over everything you can do with the Geo-Filter on our YouTube channel. Check it out here:

Stabilise Your Connection in REMATCH With Steady Ping

Once you’ve limited your server selection using Geo-Filter, the next step is to make your connection as stable as possible. That’s where Steady Ping comes in. This feature works by eliminating jitter—the small fluctuations in ping that can make your gameplay feel inconsistent even if your average ping is low.

With Steady Ping enabled, the Netduma R3 stabilizes your ping, making your connection more responsive and predictable. This is especially important in a game like REMATCH where timing and precision are crucial.

Fix Packet Loss in REMATCH With SmartBOOST

Packet loss is one of the most damaging connection problems you can face. It causes gameplay interruptions, lag spikes, and can completely throw off your in-game performance.

The most common cause of packet loss is congestion on your local network—especially if multiple devices are downloading, streaming, or using up a large share of your bandwidth.

The SmartBOOST feature on the Netduma R3 is designed to solve this problem by intelligently managing your network’s bandwidth. It automatically detects which applications and devices are using the most bandwidth and ensures that gaming traffic is always prioritized. This means large downloads or video streams won’t interfere with your gameplay.

As SmartBOOST optimizes your bandwidth usage, it also eliminates bufferbloat—a situation where your router’s queue becomes overloaded with data, causing latency and packet loss.
